I wanted to like this more than I ended up liking it. Funny thing to say and give it 4 stars but I think the ending really brought it up.
I very much enjoyed Lorel, but I think there were a bit too many characters who all served a similar purpose. I was always getting confused about who was who.
I liked the mystery a lot and I liked how the ending was tied with Lorel's personal journey. I think the ending could've been longer, and it would've been interesting to see Lorel struggle with the decision to protect the Order.
I enjoyed the commentary on how people react to transness. I think the book was strongest in the witches' debates.
