I'm happy this is shrouded in so much controversy... It is my deepest hope that the ideas forwarded in this, Lyra's story, once so problematic in a world craving to submit to dogma, come to be seen as primitive, rudimentary and ultimately small; that this is the widespread mentality and the foundation for all other thought, and that anything besides them would be seen as repressive - for it indeed is. I hope that the people of the future are surprised that this book was met with so much backlash, when it is ideas like these that form that long and distant society.
