I read the TOG series the “romantic” way, so this one was after heir of fire even though it’s technically the prequel. I thought it was a really good prequel but not entirely necessary to the series as a whole. It does help you understand our heroin better and gives you more of an insight on her as a person and where she is coming from. I enjoyed how fast paced it was to keep the story flowing and I didn’t find it disruptive to the normal series. If I reread TOG in the future I would probably read it the “romantic” way again as it was a nice little break before you get into the longer books.
