This book was decent, but it was just way too long. I figured out both “twists” almost immediately, and it took decades for trained detectives to catch up. The smaller twist at the end worked a little better but was still telegraphed too early. Pacing issues and a weak suspension of disbelief held it back, which is a shame because the atmosphere and prose were excellent. Solid writing, but only a 3-point-five-star read for me.
