mckenziegray 's review for:
The Foxglove King
by Hannah Whitten
There were things I really liked about this book and others that I really didn't. The worldbuilding was really detailed and creative and the plot was very tight. I could easily escape into the world created by the author. I was immediately hooked and was always feeling that urge to keep listening (I listened to the audiobook version). On the other hand, the love-triangle/romance that was noted in the descriptions of the book was disappointing. There wasn't much chemistry between the characters and the author relied too much on the fated love "I felt like I had known him my whole life even though we've never met" thing. This criticism is more specific to the audiobook, but I also thought the valley girl/American accent for Lore was distracting and some of the characters (Gabe especially) spoke so quietly that I missed a lot of what they said throughout the book.
