Murder on a School Night by Kate Weston

lighthearted medium-paced

3.5

I am not quite sure how to review this book.  It took me a while to read it, although that was not entirely the fault of the book itself.  I thought the mystery was interesting, but not compelling enough that I didn't put it down for weeks at a time.  The tone was odd and I wasn't expecting it to be quite as period forward as it was.  I liked the main friendship because it felt real, although I did think that Annie had some pretty naive moments.  There was nothing really wrong with the book, it may just be that I am not the target audience anymore.

I will say that I remain totally baffled by the fact that Kerry's parents were having sex in the kitchen at the time that she has to go to school.   I understand that stuff happens, but she has been going to school at the approximately the same time for over a decade, so I think that they should have picked a better time.
