Curse on the Land by Faith Hunter

4.0

Book 2 in a new series (how did I miss book 1?) set in the Jane Yellowrock universe.

Nell has recently graduated from the PsyLED academy, and is now part of Rick's team. She's still finding her way around magic though - theirs and hers - and "normal" life still requires a bit of effort for a woman raised with a very conservative, polygamous background, but it doesn't take her long to establish her credentials and discover a sort of witchy AI contaminating the land itself.

As always, Faith Hunter's characters are refreshingly unique while her descriptions are elegant and clear. Jane Yellowrock followers will want to read this because there is some crossover and plot tie-in (seriously, you'll want to read this), but even if you're relatively new to this universe it's still a good read.
