The Outlander by Gil Adamson

3.5

Honestly, I have such an aesthetic aversion to Westerns that 3.5 is pretty freaking good. Read for class and while I do find it a really rich text for discussion (I even wrote an 8 page essay on it), for actual enjoyment, it didn’t really do that much for me. Most of the middle part was a bit dull, I think 50-100 pages could have been cut and accomplished the same thing. The feminism is a bit outdated and lil essentialist, so it’s better to read from an informative perspective. I liked it and I do think the writing was absolutely gorgeous, but it certainly is going out of my brain once this class is over.
