I enjoyed this novel. Has very interesting philosophical and political messages that evolve dramatically along with the main character as the novel progresses. Actually I think the development of Andrei's character is fantastic overall. Beyond the main character, the supporting characters are also very interesting and diverse. The one kind of criticism I had was that there are parts in the final act of the book where I did not quite understand the message (especially the ending). May pick the book up again at some point. Regardless, this book is a great read for anyone who wants a cynical/realist analysis of soviet society (probably does more than just this, has a lot to say on society in general) through a sci-fi lense  with great characters.
