while the blurb for this book really intrigued me, the writing style was just too unpleasant to get through in order to actually delve into the story. with hardly any paragraph breaks and never-ending sentences that have upwards of 15 commas, tacking on clause after clause, it felt like there was no point where the reader could take a metaphorical breather. i really wanted to like this, and maybe it reads better in spanish, but i simply couldn’t get through the chunky, overwhelming writing style
