Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
5.0
I am fully expecting ruthless vows to tear my heart out after that ending, holy smokes.
In the interest of full transparency, the first 40-50% of this book I was convinced the hype was overselling it and it was going to be a 3/3.5⭐️ read. The writing was lyrical, poetically beautiful; however the story was a little lacklustre and the world building minimal.
By the end I was in tears multiple times, I appreciated the lighter work on the world building and the plot has me GASPING. Somehow, Rebecca has written a more beautiful love story with more subtlety than any other love story I’ve read the past year. It unfolds so sweetly and with purpose without feeling rushed or forced at all.
I’m very grateful to past Sam for choosing to hold off on reading Divine Rivals until the release of RV because I’m very glad to be able to immediately begin book 2!
