Cause of Death by Patricia Cornwell

2.0

K, Mrs. Dr. Miracle worker Sherlock Holmes woman, your killing me here (or maybe I wish you had just gotten it over with).
I have picked up a handful of these all out of order hoping to find a great one and I would settle for a good one at this point.
The plots are so disjointed slow and confusing. Logic? Rational? She’s only the smartest medical examiner in 50 states why should she bother. After all irrationally good at everything, conveniently capable of all tasks… across 7 books and we still have no major shakeups or character development.

Benton is as flat as a pancake and moving about as fast as pancakes can (I’m sure the atoms vibrate that’s motion enough for this novel).

Merino is the best character, he is witty, dry sarcasm mixed with cigarettes and alcohol. Paralyze him and he could be Lincoln Rhyme 2.0

Lucy could not be in the FBI unless she was a female body inspector, which is maybe the angle because if lesbihonest is mentioned once it’s mentioned again.

I might try one of the new new books and hope they have drastically evolved if not. I’m so done. Sorry Prof. Bass, this book belongs at your body farm.
