2.5 stars. I got a couple chapters into The Best Men and then decided I should read this first, so I jumped over to this. In retrospect, it wasn't necessary. You learn about everything that happened here in The Best Men, and there wasn't enough extra info in this to make it worth it. I kind of wish this had just been edited down a bit and added on to the beginning of The Best Men (The Best Men also could be edited down). I'm not really sure what the point of this novella was apart from teasing The Best Men, which is unnecessary now that the book has been released. I think I was mainly interested to get a little more info about Asher's backstory because some of what's provided in The Best Men made no sense and was vague, but there wasn't a ton of additional info. That being said, I was at least a little more intrigued by Asher and Mark here than I ended up being in The Best Men.
