I can appreciate there was some good writing but this book was just not for me at all. It was just too philosophical. I don’t mind unlikeable characters or character driven stories, in fact I prefer character driven stories. But what I do need is to care about what happens to the characters in a story, and unfortunately I just don’t care about any of these characters. The only bit that stick with me was the Beethoven quote that was used throughout; “Muss es sein? (Must it be?)” and “Es muss sein! (It must be!)”
