I'm not sure why, but I didn't find this one as gripping as the first book. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't in any particular hurry to finish. There was action, romance, and revelations, but none that really drew me into the story. I found Sophie's sections to be a great addition, and Magnus was wonderful, as always. I do like Jem a lot too.
