Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress who lives in the south with her grandmother. Now that vampires are legally able to be a part of human society, Sookie comes across Bill Compton at the bar she works at.

She starts to get to know him, then murders start happening in her town of Bon Temps, so Sookie and Bill start to investigate the murders, because the police are basically accusing vampires of doing the crimes.

*Years ago I watched the show True Blood, which is based on this series, so I think the TV series did pretty good to be really close to this book. The only thing I thought was different, was the fact that the show had Bill and Sookie look more romantic, where with this book I did feel like it was a paranormal mystery book first, with a side plot of a romance. I didn’t feel the connection with Bill and Sookie, and also I really disliked Sookie’s brother, he wasn’t very good to Sookie. Where in the show Jason was a bit of a fuck up, but he still loved and wanted to protect his sister.

I will also say I felt like Eric and Sookie had more of a physical attraction, and I did feel that as well in the show True Blood*
