Maria was a famous television chef and restaurateur when her husband died. She was known for always adding her secret ingredient to everything she made. She became more well-known through the media, because her husband's body was never found, but a note was left. This was decades ago, and now Maria is finally ready to share her story. She has done a tremendous amount of research and decides Thea needs to be the editor for her memoir. Thea has no idea why Maria has chosen her, but agrees to spend some time at Maria’s home getting to know her and going over her manuscript. As Maria's story is revealed, Thea finds herself trapped and afraid of what's to come.
A little bit Lessons In Chemistry, a little bit Evelyn Hugo, a little bit Stephen King, all books and authors I've given five stars to. I loved how this was like a book inside of a book. There are quite a few characters, which could be a little confusing at times, but nothing that wasn't heard to piece together. Learning about everyone's past was one of my favorite parts. I also loved how everything tied together in the end. I'm definitely getting a physical copy of this book. I'm just wondering if I should keep it in the kitchen with my cookbooks, or on the shelf with my other books…
A big thank you to Dreamscape Media and the author for an advanced copy of this audiobook. Opinions are my own.
THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You love thrillers that will leave you guessing right down to the end.
