I enjoyed this book- it is definitely of it's time (it was written in 1945) but it has a good sense of humour and I learned a surprising amount about Cornish tin mining. I do wish the romance didn't have quite such an age gap though!

Edit: something very dark happens later in this series so I've come back to add to this review that I would no longer recommend the series!
