The City of Lost Fortunes
by Bryan Camp
I only read this because my lovely friend had accidentally bought two copies, so naturally I was given one. I say this, just to emphasis that if it wasn't for this accidental occurrence - I would never have read this fantastic book and that made me sad to think, because truly, this book was a wonder.
I loved this book. I loved how well it was written and how poetic each starting chapter was. I loved the characters and the complexity of the world and it's magic. I loved all of the plot twists, the unapologetic acceptance of self and the banter.
I loved how instead of creating a new form of magic and singling it out, it took to including ALL mythology and religion to allow all gods, deities and tales to simply exist without having to fight for a place in the limelight.
