▫️Jamie Keaton is a reality show winner turned rock artist working on her new album and dealing with a breakup with her celebrity boyfriend; Clayton Langley is a beloved country legend. These two artists, managed by the same manager and on the same label, wind up - accidentally - writing a song that takes the country charts by storm. Now, they're forced to work together all while navigating a new relationship and the impact this has on their respective careers and personal lives.
▫️this was my first work by the author. It started off a bit slow, but it had me hooked once I got about 15% in - I finished the rest of the book in one sitting.
▫️there were two plot points that were brought up multiple times in the book that could have really altered the course of the story, but when you finally got to the outcome of these plot points, they fizzled out- they were wrapped very abruptly considering how much they could have shook up the universe.
▫️character development was done well. I think Clayton was a bit more well-rounded while Jaime was a bit more flawed. A lot of the secondary characters were charming and nearly stole the show.
▫️perfect beach/summer read
▫️quick read that flowed well overall. It was quite the slowburn when it came to romance and was a bit light on the spicy romance aspect.
▫️trigger warnings: abandonment by a parent, eating disorder, mental health, abuse by a spouse, and cheating
▫️tropes: contemporary romance, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, slow burn romance, grumpy x sunshine, rockstar/music romance
A free copy of this book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
