A Traitor Sister
by Day Leitao
I loved A Cursed Son, Book 1 in Day Leitao's Remnants of the Fallen Kingdom series. I loved the story's premise, the idea of Marlak and Astra hunting each other's dreams and finding a way to each other in the real world. I loved how whimsical and exciting it all was. I loved Astra and Marlak together and as individuals. I loved the side characters and what they brought to the story. But I couldn't even imagine how much I would obsess over its sequel, A Traitor Sister.
A Traitor Sister is like a wild rollercoaster of actions and emotions, all packed together perfectly. There is so much going on from the first to the last page, yet it never feels overbearing. The story is so much bigger than Marlak and Astra alone; the stakes are higher, the secrets are bigger, and the revelations are jaw-dropping. We learn so much along the way about the world and its hidden history. We are gifted with multiple POVs to truly understand everyone's motives and wants, whether they are the ones we cheer for or the ones we see as villains. But are they villains?
Astra and Marlak are still with us and still the main protagonists, but in the sequel, they share the spotlight with others, like Lidiane, Tarlia, Renel, and Azur. Each of them is an essential part of the plot, offering new perspectives and POVs. Relationships are developing; friendships are rising; tentative truces and allies are made. Everything and everyone is in turmoil, and Day does a remarkable job of showing us all these intricacies.
A Traitor Sister will be an experience you will enjoy; you won't be able to leave the book behind. You will be so immersed in the story and characters that the real world will be hazy. So, mark your calendars for February 12th and dive into this with us. Thank you, Day, for (again) having me on your ARC team; I can't wait for the finale!
