I liked it! The book stays true to the characters’ personalities and I like that. As the MCs get to know each other they see each other under a different light without them having to change who they are. I needed an extra emotional beat or two to see their romantic and sexual chemistry grow. Light touches or sitting side by side does not seem like enough to build that chemistry. Slow burn. There’s no third act breakup (yay!).
The homophobia is pretty much in the reader’s face for a couple chapters and it lingers in the background for part of the book. It is not vulgar but there are two characters who are homophobes and bigoted. When they show up, homophobia shows up too. If that sort of thing bothers you, I’d avoid this one. I’ve added a graphic trigger warning for this reason.
