Finished this a few days ago. When I started, I read half the book in one day. I just swallowed this thing whole like a python. It felt like reading in my YA dystopian hey-day, which was a fun, nostalgic feeling.

I enjoyed that there was chronic illness/pain/disability rep, but I wish it would have been fleshed out just a bit more. The character has an EDS-like illness, which the author also has, but missing were any mentions of the other crippling symptoms that can come with it, like the soul-crushing fatigue. So while I'm happy it was included (we need more books with chronic illness and pain rep), I have yet to read a book (save one) where fatigue is also a symptom. Which is odd, because it is present in SO many chronic illnesses.

The action kept me going, and I had a lot of emotions while reading. She really did pull me along on this adventure, even though some of it felt a little surface level. The dragons though, those were awesome. I need so much more dragon content in the next book!

Also, I was unprepared for the level of spice in this. It's probably so, so tame to others, but I don't read a lot of spice and was like whoa okay that's happening.

All in all, a solid 4 stars from me, and I'll definitely be reading the next one!
