Someone Is Always Watching by Kelley Armstrong

A well done mystery about secrets in a small town. Though I did piece together a number of the twists, a final revelation about the villain genuinely surprised me. I wish the ending wasn’t quite so neat, and that there had been more grappling with the moral gray areas of what is eventually uncovered. However, this was well written with characters who were distinct and grappling with actual life or death. I wish a few characters had more time to breathe on the page—Sidney and Cassidy, in particular, disappear at the midway point and Devon is in and out of the story in a seemingly random pattern. We also don’t get enough time with Gabi to cement her as a critical member of the friend group. This is clearly Blythe and Tucker’s story and everyone else is just along for the ride.
