I’ll start by saying the writing is amazing and I will definitely read more books by this author. Which is why it’s a 3 star.
I’ve read credence and June 1st both pretty taboo in its own way. Usually age gaps and step whatever, dad’s friends … you name it doesn’t bother me BUT this felt so off and the flashbacks are definitely too much..
The fact the he was her godfather, there when she was born, literally was all her first (bought first animal, first word, lost virginity, etc) BABYSAT HER. He was literally around more than her own parents. Which the flashbacks made the story going forward very cringe.
I can see why people would love this and hate this book. I enjoyed the present tense when I didn’t think about the past tense.
