Spice Rating: (0/5 peppers)
What I loved:
- Multiple POVs that keep you on your toes
- The mysterious vibes throughout the book as Synali slowly uncovers the truth
- The relationship development and character development throughout
- Heavenbreaker
- The definitions at the beginning of the chapters
What I hated:
- The beginning was hard to follow, trying to figure out who was saying what
- The cliffhanger ending
Favorite quotes:
- I have learned that when fear bites, you must bite back, or it will eat you whole.
- One does not need to be routinely intelligent to achieve victory, Synali-one merely needs to strike when their opponent blunders.
- The pawn is the only piece that refuses to move backward.
- There are things in this universe that do not die; they only change their names.
- They can choose to kill you. But you are the only one who can choose to live.
Graphic: Murder, Physical abuse, Suicidal thoughts, Violence, Gore, Blood, Classism, Injury/Injury detail, Emotional abuse, Death of parent, and Death
