Trigger warnings: parental abandonment.
I was a little hesitant through the early stages of this because even though it's Emma Lord and I LOVED Tweet Cute and thoroughly enjoyed You Have a Match, there was something about this that just...wasn't hitting right. But once I got through the initial set up (it's VERY Broadway-y and the whole track-down-a-family-member-I've-never-met felt a liiiiiiiiittle too similar to You Have a Match at times...), I flew through this. It's sweet and funny and generally delightful.
There's a diverse cast of characters, a club that serves milkshakes sounds AMAZING, and the relationship that develops in the course of the story was lovely. And, honestly, as a 38 year old? Would also read this story told from her 37 year old dad's perspective.
