The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken

4.0

Jane gets the raw end of the deal after her parents both die from cancer. She is responsible for taking over her families business and taking care of her sisters. Her sisters don't do anything for themselves, they rely on Jane to do everything for them. If she isn't where they expect her to be they call her complaining and yelling. While the three of them are at a party they end up ripping her dress and tripping her, leaving her on the floor, until prince charming comes and rescues her.

Prince charming is Brock Wellington, he picks her up off the floor after one of her shoes breaks. He sends his brother to the store to buy her another pair of shoes too. After his parents died in a plane crash, he became a yes man. He's afraid of something happening to his grandfather, so whatever he asks of Brock, he says yes. That includes the bachelor auction, which includes getting married to the highest bidder.

Brock's grandfather sets it up so that Jane is cleaning the ranch house while Brock is there in an attempt to set them up. With the auction coming up, Brock is willing to do whatever it takes to make his grandfather happy and keep the woman of his dreams... Cinderella.

This is the first book I've read by Rachel Can Dyken, and I have to say that I'm glad that I got the opportunity. This story was cute and everything that a modern day Cinderella story should be. The story made me smile, laugh, and left me hoping that these two got their HEA. The chemistry between Jane and Brock was sizzling and I loved the interactions with them and the animals. Well the rooster, the donkey, and the horses. I'll leave you to wonder how they fit in :) I didn't really care for Jane's sisters and I was glad to see them get theirs in the end, but I wish we could have seen them suffer. Great story!!
