I liked this book more than the first in the series. It is more unique and moved in more unexpected directions than the first. Still leans heavily into dark romantasy that does not seem to fit into the plot which I could do with a little less of.
There are also political premises that are not well explained that I do not agree with, very much hurt some to protect others mentality.
