A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston

4.0

Final Rating: 4/5⭐️

I really liked the idea of this book and went in expecting to love it as much as I loved the Seven Year Slip but honestly? This one fell a little flat for me - it felt like the romance was almost non-existent between our MC’s for the majority of the book and then all of a sudden they were falling for each other? I found myself page watching for probably 95% of this book which is just unfortunate because I truly do love the way Ashely Poston writes. This is actually the only reason why this book is still getting 4 stars - Poston has an incredibly unique way of writing that will make me want to continue the story even if I'm not super enthralled by it. She leaves TONS of breadcrumbs throughout the story and breaks the 4th wall so many times that I find myself chuckling while im reading. Sometimes it feels like she’s talking directly to the reader through the characters and I love that. Foreshadowing/breaking the 4th wall was my most tabbed occurrence throughout this novel and tbh kept me reading just for those little tidbits!

Overall, I do think this is a cute story and if you’re already a fan of Ashley Poston’s writing then you will probably enjoy it, but I would say don’t go in expecting a super cohesive romance story line. This one is more about being an ode to readers for sure.
