Alice by Christina Henry

This book wasn't for me. Every female character felt like a sad, helpless victim with no automony and every male character was violent and normally a rapist. It was very one dimensional and felt like an endless slog of violence and rape, which doesn't count as a storyline. Honestly I don't normally read horror, and probably came in with wrong expectations, but this wasn't a "dark twist" it was a list crimes with a lot of walking in-between, by characters that happen to have the same names as those in Lewis Carol's original story. I spent most of this book angry at how helpless every woman (apart from Alice) was portrayed and wondering when it would end. Upon reaching the ending, I think I must've missed something because it was very anticlimactic and unsatisfying.
