This may be one of the best books I’ve read in a very very long time. It’s got me remembering forgotten things and feeling things. I was hooked by its authenticity. It was a page turner but I also didn’t want it to end. It broke me open in a good way and it’s so beautiful and heart breaking and life affirming and so tender and sweet. Great characters like Lucy our narrator, Susannah, and their group of girlfriends, and Martin, who is sweet and everyone expects to marry Lucy. Lucy contends with expectations over who she really is all while growing up from 15 in the 90’s in a small Irish town. So beautiful. So compelling, raw, real, sapphic and complicated, heart breaking and life affirming. I cried more than once. Highly recommend.
