Poirot Investigates by Agatha Christie
4.0
I like short stories, I do not ask of them the same as a novel length story; I don't need character development as much as in the longer forms (like a novella too). In Poirot, a good short story is one where there's a clever little twist. In this the first collection of Poirot short Agatha Christie created in 1924, we see Poirot shine in different ways and Hastings fail to get it in as many different ways (what would be fun is Hastings getting it right before Poirot once...).
My favorites here are : The Adventure of the Western Star about a jewel robbery; The Adventure of the Cheap Flat about a flat to let to very specific persons and The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb about the curse on the people who opened a tomb. What I find interesting about the last one is that her fascination with archaeology predates meeting her second husband, I had forgotten that.
I read this in between other books this time around, I think that's the best way to read a collection where it's all the same protagonist that way the stories do not meld into each other.
