Hear Me Out by Sarah Harding

emotional funny hopeful informative inspiring lighthearted reflective sad fast-paced

4.0

Sarah Harding came to fame as one fifth of Girls Aloud, a pop group put together by way of a live TV show called Popstars: The Rivals. Sarah, along with her four bandmates (Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole & Nicola Roberts) would go on to enjoy several hit records and worldwide success. For Sarah, sometimes the attention she received was less than flattering when tabloids dubbed her the "wild child" or "party girl" of the group - the nickname Hardcore Harding would stick for years.

Recently, Sarah has chosen to share her cancer diagnosis publicly. In this book, she starts every chapter with a little piece about how she's feeling that particular day, or what's going on with her treatment. This is a really engaging way to write a book like this, and it felt more like having a chat with a mate than it did reading about a strangers life. I also very much enjoyed the couple of chapters from some of her band mates (not gonna tell you which ones, you'll have to read it) but it was lovely to see some more personal writing from them too even if the circumstances are very sad.

Sarah talks about her career, life and loves in a frank, open way and this book though very sad at times, was a very enjoyable read because of the way it was written.
