V. E. Schwab surprised me with this one: I actually got intense chills! She did such a great job creating a haunting yet beautiful atmosphere in a book about friendship and persevering.
Cassidy, Lara, and Jacob were an awesome trio who worked hard to fight against a dangerous spirit. Schwab made the beloved city of New Orleans come alive with her spectacular prose and vivid descriptions.
Cassidy’s bond with Jacob was as fun as always, and I loved her adventurous spirit. She is a great role model for young readers, and I was amazed at her courage in standing up to a truly terrifying entity.
Schwab clearly had fun creating the natural and supernatural world, and I had an absolute blast reading it. Perfect for readers of all ages who enjoy ghost adventures and spooky legends!
