The Candles Are Burning by Veronica G. Henry

On death and family herritage

I enjoy reading non-white non-male authors for these people bring a different perspective and value which extends our own understanding of the world, enrich our knowledge of diverse cultures, and broaden our own perspective. This particular story goes for long without a hint of mystery or suopernatural, but once it brings it in, it ties it in well with the family and cultural heritage of our main character. I appreciate the writing style and the dramatic impact of the introduction of the fantasy element here.

There's nothing I could point out that I disliked.

I recommend this read to those who would enjoy an experience of a hint of black tradition and culture tied in with the supernatural with a clever ethical message.

I give this 5/5 stars as this was a story that kept my attention from beginning to end with beautiful narration.
