Bossypants by Tina Fey

4.0

I "read" this as an audio book, mostly while raking leaves for hours. Honestly, it was the first time I've ever enjoyed raking.

I think I would have enjoyed this book even if I had to actually sit down and read it, as opposed to listen to it, but I am SO glad I bought it on audible.com. Hearing Tina Fey's stories and jokes in Tina Fey's actual voice made it that much more funny. Plus, she adds in a few lines/jokes specific for audio listeners that readers don't get to experience.

The book covered the topics I assumed it would cover, so there were no fantastic surprises. Still, it was interesting to hear things like how she landed her spot at SNL after a hilarious interview with Lorne Michaels, how the Sarah Palin skits came about, her hesitance surrounding them, her 30 Rock journey thus far, and her experiences as a working mom. And the chapter about her father was priceless.

Was her book predictable? Yes. But I suppose many memoirs/autobiographies are. But her "We don't f***ing care if you like it" theme was fun and honest. Tina's stories reveal that she is even more down to earth than we already thought she was.
