I listened to All the Dangerous Things on audiobook, and it took me a little while to adjust to the American accent after recently listening to multiple British-narrated books. That may have contributed to why I felt a bit disconnected at first, but overall, the book was a slow/medium-paced read that took me some time to get invested in.
The story had some good twists, some I saw coming, but the main twist I didn’t. That said, it wasn’t a jaw-dropping moment like I’ve had in other thrillers. While the suspense was there, I kept waiting for something bigger to happen.
I initially rated this book a 3.0, but after listening to the author’s note, I bumped it up to a 3.5. The way the author explained her thought process and inspiration made me reflect on the book in a different way, which I appreciated.
Overall, a decent read with solid writing, but not my favorite in the genre. If you enjoy a slower-paced mystery with a psychological edge, this one might be worth picking up!
