the quote from the washington post is very true, this is a book that requires itself to be read in one sitting. this book shook me and scared me in many little ways and gave a very harrowing view of what coming of age is. the experience of being a person everyone is ashamed of that both characters face in very different ways compels a lot of self reflection, i’ve found. it’s beautifully written and moves like an hbo mini-series, just 4 episodes. this book is very raw and open and the ending will leave you short of breath and with a dull, aching sob caught in your throat.
Graphic: Domestic abuse, Panic attacks/disorders, Sexual assault, Emotional abuse, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Violence and Eating disorder
