This book was intense. The main reason why I enjoyed it, was because of the slow, continuous build Elston maintained throughout the story. Don't get me wrong I was still a bit shocked when I found out the truth at the end but I would've liked a bigger plot twist. That's just my preference though! I also really like Elston's style of telling the story. How she told the perspective of the killer throughout the chapters and the reader got to learn what went through his head throughout everything.
Katie, the main character, is thankfully unlike most female lead characters. She is determined, strong and very real. I especially liked how she was able to keep her emotions in check the majority of the time. For a teenager to be so encapsulated in a murder case can take a toll on the average person, but instead of the overly emotional act, we got a bit of something different.
All in all I would definitely recommend this if you enjoy a good mystery without some of the dramatic tendencies.
