Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward

5.0

I’ve always said that sometimes There is a difference between a writer and a storyteller. I’d say James Patterson is a storyteller. I’d say Markus Zusak is a writer. (And a storyteller and a god among men...but I digress) Ward is the epitome of a writer. Certain sentences in this book blew my mind and I read with my mouth hanging open. The writing of this book was so vivid and gritty, that at times I actually got sick to my stomach. A writer who can illicit a physical response in the reader is churning out some pretty amazing stuff. Not easy stuff, mind you. This was a hard book to swallow at times. It was also gorgeous and stunning and worthy of every bit of praise it has received.
