Gather the Daughters by Jennie Melamed

4.0

Wow. What a horrifying and yet gripping novel this is. It was beautifully written and kept me interested the whole time. Yes, it reminded me of The Handmaid's Tale, The Giver, and Never Let Me Go, but also of the Village. A group of people break away from society and make a new community with their own rules. The story is written about the daughters who are coming of age and becoming adults/wives/mothers at the ages of 9-13. A scary depiction of a futuristic place of incest and isolation.
