I just finished this - admittedly in one sitting/binge.
I can't even begin to describe how much this one is going to stay with me. I wish there was a higher rating than five that I could give it. The way Xander is written is for a lack of a better way - beautiful. I say this because it's rare to find books that actually show realistic representation of mental disorders and this author has done it yet again. I knew Xanders story would hit hard. I don't want to give spoilers so I'll keep it simple.
What I loved:
The author wrote about a character with real flaws and a real disorder. One that's hard. She accurately portrayed the character through both the characters lense and the lense of others and the pain that came with it. I loved that it didn't have the "love conquers all" trope where it glosses over the characters legit mental disorders with the whole love heals cliche.
I loved that Derek was a very good fit for Xander and that he actually is good for him and I adore that Xanders support system is very well portrayed and it isn't just about Derek. This story is very much about healing past traumas and getting help and the hurdles that come with it.
Anyways - I highly recommend this and the audio is phenomenal. I did cry a few times but this story was beautiful.
