Under the Skin: The Hidden Toll of Racism on American Lives and on the Health of Our Nation by Linda Villarosa

informative

4.0

Very informative and intriguing. I enjoyed the writing style and the depth of the issues the author covered. I've read a few books on medical racism, and I found this to be one of the more approachable and digestible. It covers a lot of topics succinctly, so more a mile wide and a few inches deep coverage here. The author definitely has a perspective she is trying to put forth, but I thought it was well supported. I love books that use stories and data to drive home their points, and I thought this one did both. I cannot speak more broadly to how experts have viewed this and can only speak to how a layperson perceived it.
