The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

5.0

I've never read a book like this. Plath writes poetically and with remarkable insight. Nearly every page there was something that I stopped and thought about. You don't need to be suffering a mental breakdown for this book to resonate with you. The fig tree story, for example, expressed my anxieties with an unnerving amount of accuracy.
This book has gotten a reputation of being for sad teenage girls, but I genuinely think that everyone can find something insightful in it.
Also, it's funny. I didn't think I would laugh reading this book, but Plath is surprisingly witty.
10/10 recommend.
