Jane, the Fox & Me by Fanny Britt
3.0

This is a sad tale of how girls live with a negative body image, and how it is reinforced by school bullies. Helene copes by avoidance and immersing herself in the world of Jane Eyre, who is herself a plain Jane compared to other society girls, but who is loved by Mr. Rochester all the same.

Helene comes to realize her view of herself is not the reality as she finally makes a friend who likes her for her.

But, I really have no clue where the fox figures into the story. I thought he was going to become a secret, unconditionally loving companion to Helene while she is at camp. He just makes this brief appearance, and frankly, I didn't get it. I don't think kids will get it, either.

The cover art, while matching the inner graphics, just is not that appealing.
