I wanted to love this because I typically enjoy a good villain backstory and Snow is an intriguing enemy in the original trilogy. I just never quite understood the choices he made and at times his indecision gave me whiplash (which was understandable for the age of the character, but unfulfilling as a reader…)
I found the first half of the book to be slow. I actually liked the writing style more than the original books (something in the tone of Katniss’s narration was never my favorite), but I just did not enjoy the characters and found the plot lacking. 🤷🏻♀️🫣
I did enjoy learningthe backstory of “The Hanging Tree” song! 🎶
