Shadows and Strongholds by Elizabeth Chadwick

3.0

I don't think I've ever read a book where I was less interested in the romance.

I was enjoying reading this a lot, with all the knights, horses, castles, beautiful medieval clothing, interesting food ... the setting was well done and I liked all of the description the author used. I also felt that the characters were very real, particularly Brunin and Joscelin (although Hawise I honestly cared nothing about).

Then suddenly there was a 6 page sex scene. And it went downhill from there.

I would have liked it a lot better if there was no lust, sex, rape, etc. It would have been way more interesting. I probably won't read the next book in the series.
