As a fan of internet novels, how could I not give this manga a try? It has all the right ingredients — the four handsome heroes, the beautiful girl character, and the appropriately brown haired side kick who is, of course, our main character, Dani.
Dani’s growing realization and horror that she’s in some sort of internet novel is followed by her bemusement as she realizes it really is just like some cheesy soap opera. Because she’s aware of the genre conventions, she acts — at least as far as other characters are concerned — oddly, especially in the beach confrontation in book two, which was really the best part of this book, and the funniest. Add to that her obliviousness about certain characters romantic feelings and it’s all just a well done satire as well as being an engaging story.
If you’re a fan of the genre, this should be well worth the read, though this only collects the first two volumes of the series, which means you — and I — will have to either wait for the next collection, or just head out to grab book number three.
Thank you so much to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC!
