Low, Vol. 3: Shore of the Dying Light by Rick Remender

3.0

Low is a really perplexing title. It’s such a good premise that since volume 1 has had some really good character work. And the art has improved since the first volume. This isn’t to say the art was bad. Just more abstract then most comics warrant.

Stel has gotten to the surface and is in search of the prob. And she never gives up hope.

The themes and message this comic is trying to push is conflicting with The authors writing style. The tropes he uses work when bringing the story down but clashes with the message of hope. Because it’s an assault of depression. And it works but if you step back and look at the themes of hope, never giving up, and family triumphs no matter the distance, it clashes. And it clashes so hard it breaks the spell.

The character work is good, the art has improved, and it’s still interesting, but it should be written by someone else. Someone that doesn’t have the cynical edge that is in all Remenders work.

3 stars.
